Good Season’s Sport Licenses for trout fishing operate until May 31 at the Rotorua and Taupti fisheries. Game shooting for pheasants, ducks, etc., will start on Slay 1. Reports received by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, indicate that there will be an increased number of game sportsmen operating on the opening o£ the season. For several days past trout fishiing in the Rotorua district has been very good, and the reputation of the Rotorua Lake for fishing has »-en re-established. Reports sent to the Minister show that anglers in the Rotorua, Rototti, and Tarawera lakes and at Waitete, Ngongotaha, and Kaituna have had very fine sport. “It is,” states the Conservator of Fish and Game, “always the Way that at the cud of the season fishing picks up considerably in all the fisheries. ’ At Taupo good fishing is still maintained. Specimens from 4,5, 7, 9. and 101 b. in weight have been bagged. Right throughout the season,” the Government Conservator says, “the fishing—fly and trolling—has been splendid. Many more anglers have been operating this, year, and I am safe in saying that, all takin~ part have had their maximum Of sport. I have received many OUlogiStie references to' the arrangements made by the department and launch owners for sportsmen from overseas.”
