A thunderbolt which burst within a short distance of the Wellington-Napier mail train near Oringi, a small township between Dannevirke and Woodville, on Wednesday startled travellers on the train and caused sufficient concern for ’the train to be stopped for a few minutes. Travellers on the train state that a blue and orange coloured flash was noticed which terminated in a loud explosion when about three feet off the ground and about 20 yards away from the train.
