WREATHS DISTURBED
Desecration of Cenotaph The custodian of the Sydney Cenotaph, Colonel Murphy, recently made, a report to the police regarding the actions ot a number of well-dressed young people ia five sedan cars at the Cenotaph. Mr. Murphy said he was in . Martin Place when he saw the cars, which were, crowded with young men and women oetw^nle ages'of 11 and 26, who apparently, were on a treasure hunt. He saw several of them lifting up the wreaths on the Cenotaph as if looking th o paper clues which are common to a treasure hunt and he made a strong protest. This had the desired effect for the. moment, but a young man who had been searching around Martin Place came running up and took a flying leap on to a led„e. Taking no heed of Mr. Murphy, this young man lifted up a laurel wreath on the top of the Cenotaph and Peered underneath. Shortly afterward the caiß drove off to the accompaniment of noisy. la The t€ matter was placed in the handr of the police.
