ORIENT LINE IMPROVEMENTS. With a view to meeting the desires of the modern travelling public, the Orient Company has made an alteration to a practice of long-standing by changing the order of meals in the third class. Hitherto dinner has been served at mid-day and tea in the evening, but since the Orontes left Sydney in February the order has been reversed, with a buffet afternoon tea served in the afternoon. The tables have also been altered, and small tables have replaced the long ones formerly provided.

BUTTER MARKET WEAK

N.Z. Finest Salted, 111/-

DANISH AT LOW LEVEL

The New Zealand Producers’ Co-opera-tive Marketing Association’s weekly cabled market report from London, dated March 31, is as follows:—Butter: Market quiet. New Zealand, 110/- to 112/-; Danish, 110/-. Cheese: Market quiet. New Zealand, white 51/- to 52/-, coloured 54/- to 55/-.

The London butter market has showed marked weakness during the last ten days. The outstanding feature is the low price of Danish butter, which at 116/- a cwt, represents a premium of only 5/- on New Zealand. This is the lowest point touched by Danish butter for a considerable period. Early In January It was quoted at 128/- at a time when New Zealand stood at 115/-, but during February the spot price of Danish went up as high as 152/158/-, a premium of over 39/- a cwt on New Zealand. Sluce then the price lias gradually sagged to its present low level. The average price of Danish butter for tho whole of last year was 150/- a cwt, as against 182/4 tor 1029.
