Whaler’s Visits to Wellington An interesting paragraph in the Wellington harbourmaster’s annual report refers to the visits to the port of the giant whaling factory ship Kosinos, which on each occasion berthed at I ipitea Wharf. . Her principal dimensions are: Gross tonnage, 17,801 tons; net tonnage, 11,789 tons; length. 554 feet; breadth, 77 feet; and depth. 49 feet. Her draughts on each arrival and departure were as follow:—First, arrival, 36 feet aft: and 27 feet forward; ure. 35 feet 3 inches aft and o inches forward. Second arrival. 34 feet. 1 inch aft and 34 feet 9 inches departure, 35 feet 7 inches aft and feet 6 inches forward. Third arrival, 35 feet 11 inches aft and 28 feet 4 inches forward; departure, w fee inches aft and 35 feet forward. These draughts easily constitute a record for a New Zealand port.
