Napier Government Employees

Sir, —Mr. Barton, the Commissioner appointed to control the affairs of Napier, says it is a crying shame that so many refugees are still staying away from Napier. Mr. Barton should ' also address himself to the Government and ascertain the number of Government employees from Hawke’s Bay who are working in Wellington and elsewhere when their job really lies in Napier. A Parliamentary question, if fully replied to, would show a surprising lack of initiative on the part of the Government and some of its permanent heads. — I am, etc., TRUTH. March 23, 1931.
