GIFT TEAS
A presentation recently took place at ' the Public Works Department, when Mr, Furkert, on behalf of the depart. 1 went, presented Miss Q. Campbell and Mr. D. M. Grover with a silver tea service, oak tray and a set of cutlery on the occasion of their approaching marriage. The bride, too, has been the guest at some jolly parties given in honour of her approaching marriage. Mrs. H. Gifford also gave an enjoyable gift tea at her residence, Helen Street, when competitions and music were much enjoyed, Miss Carrick was hostess at a pantry tea given the bride-to-be by her fellow ■ officers of the Public Works Department, and a well-stocked pantry was the result. , Mr, and Mrs, J. C. Andersen also gave a kitchen evening at the Lyceum Club on Saturday night Many friends were present, and items and competitions went toward the making of a happy party. NURSING DIVISION At the first meeting of the present year of the Wellington Suburban Nursing Division, Mrs. Ramsey was in the ehair. In expressing her pleasure at the opening of the season’s work, she hoped it would be as efficient and pleasurable as in the past. Mrs. Osborn, lady superintendent, briefly outlined the work of the division. Permission to conduct a first-aid class for the Girl Guides of St, Thomas’s Church was given to Mrs. Morgan and Miss Wahlers, Squad and fiirst-aid practice was the work of the evening. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE Mrs. J. A. Monk presided over the annual meeting of the Reikorangi Women’s Institute. Owing to the distance many members have to travel it was decided to hold alternate meetings in Waikanae. The following members were chosen as the committee for the ensuing year;—Mrs. G. A. Monk, Airs. Nielsen, Miss Anderson, Airs. G. Carter, Mrs, C Wootton, Mrs. T. W. Brown, Mrs. G, Brown, Misses L. Mowbray, E. Jones and N. Laurenson. Mrs. J. Schwass. “Burnwae,” Tokomaru, gave a farewell party at the Rosco Tearooms, Palmerston North, in honour of her sister, Miss E. Woilerman, who is to leave shortly for England and the Continent.
