WINTER MILK PRICES
Quart Bottles to be 6ld. Municipal milk will retail at 6}d. a quart this winter, according to rates approved by the City Council last evening for operation from April 16. The new price, one hallpenny lower than last year, was submitted by the milk committee and approved. . Cream will retail at Bd. a quarter pint, 1/3 for half-pints, and 2/6 a pint. Bulk milk will be supplied at 1/9 a gallon, and bulk cream will be 17/8 a gallon wholesale. . • The chairman of the milk committee, Mr. C. 11. Bennett, said that previously the winter award given by the arbitrator, Sir Alexander Roberts, fixed a minimum of 1/6 a lb. of butter-fat. Only once had the figure been below this iirnimuni, inis year the matter had been referred to Mr. E Page S.M., who heard evidence and fixed the price at 1/4 a lb. of butter-fat, thus permitting a reduction of *d. a quart for milk this winter.
