MOTOR TRAFFIC SIGNS

Position at Petone A circular sign on the road at the centre of the intersection of Jackson Street and Cuba Street, Petone, was the subject of a letter from the Wellington Automobile Association to the recent Borough Council meeting. “It is argued,’’ write the Automobile Association secretary, “that the circle, being in the centre of the road, is no help to the motorist” He suggested that four circles, one in the middle of each section of roading, should be laid down. The borough inspector, Mr. W. B. Gough, believed that the Petone system was as good, if not better, than the four domes suggested. He intended to use the centre domes in the 66ft. streets and the kerb-line domes in the 40ft. streets. The question was referred to the traffic by-laws committee.
