Overcrowding of School Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, March 5. “With the standard space being twelve square feet .to a pupil, it will be seen that we arc on the highway to serious overcrowding,” commented the headmaster of the Russell Street 'Primary School at a meeting of the school committee last night. . . In his report Mr. Campbell appended the. following figures giving the floor space per pupil in the various classes: Primer, 10.6; standard 18, 7.5; standards 1 and 2, 10.7; standards 3 and 4, 8.9; standards 5 and 6, 13.2. 'Mr. Campbell reported that numbers of refugee children had been turned away from the school, but that 20 were at present being taught. The committee decided to refer to the matter in its annual report.
