TROUT FISHING
Good Spot at Taupo The variable weather in the Taupo Lake district for tho last ten days has not interfered to any extent with troutfishing. In his latest report to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, the conservator of fish and game states that although there have been few anglers about, some excellent cntches were recorded and some big fish landed. , A trolling party in the lake near Tokaenu landed twenty-three fine fish on the spoon, three registering in weight nine pounds and one ten pounds. Operations at Stump Bay, the “Log Pool,’* and “Gull Pool” had been good, trout of six and nine pounds having been bagged. Acacia and Jerusalem Bays and Rangitlra Point had been well used and the catches there had been splendid. There have been several good bags taken from the Rotorua end of the fisheries. The Waikato River, below the Huka Falls, and Roto Kawa had given up some fine specimen fish, averaging 4} and 6}lb. The fishing in the lake Itself had not shown very good results in regard to heavy fish. At Waitete, Hamurana, and Ngongotaha some good catches had been obtained with the fly. .
