RUNS COME QUICKLY

West Indies Aggressive MATCH WITH VICTORIA (Rec. February 2, 11.45 p.m.) Melbourne, February 2. The weather was fine but the wicket slow for the resumption of the cricket match West Indies versus Victoria. Runs came freely from the start. Grant especially batting much more enterprisingly than usual. The running between the wickets was delightful, but towards the end of the innings this was over-done, and Grant and St. HUI committed suicide, backing-up going too far. Grant gave a good display for 138 minutes, and scored eight boundaries. Sealey gave a bright exhibition for 47 minutes, and hit two boundaries.

The total was the highest for the tour.

The batsmen were confident throughout. Nagel, a tall, medium-fast bowler, bowled well.

A feature of Victoria’s innings was the powerful driving display. Sandford batted for 68 minutes and hit ten boundaries. Fontaine gave a solid display. The visitors’ bowling sadly lacks a first-class slow bowler, otherwise the attack was fairly good. Details:
