PLASTERING TRADE
Agreement on Award
Applications made by the employers and workers for a revision of the Wellington Plasterers’ Industrial (Fibrous Section) award were considered at a Conciliation Council meeting presided over by' the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. P. Hally, yesterday morning. An application was made by the workers’ union that, generally, the present award rates of wages and other working conditions should be renewed for another team of two years. The Master Plasterers’ Association also filed claims, and requested that the present rates should be reduced, and other conditions considerably modified. The assessors recommended by the parties were appointed to act with the commissioner. The meeting, which was taken in committee, lasted all day, and at its conclusion the commissioner reported that an agreement upon all matters in dispute had been practically reached, with the exception of rates of pay. This item was held over until this morning, when the parties will again meet at 9.30 o’clock.
