INJURED FIRE-FIGHTER

Success of Operation

It was reported to the Lower Hutt Bordugh Council that Superintendent T. W. Slinn, of the Lower Hutt Volunteer Fire Brigade, who nearly lost his life some weeks back when a house in Waterloo Road was completely destroyed, had to undergo an operation to his eye. The Mayor (Sir Alexander Roberts) informed councillors at the last meeting that the operation had been entirely successful and that Sujierintenderit Slinn would be out -and about again in the course of a few days. During the period from November 6, 1930, to January 8, 1931, the brigade was called out six times, the most serious fire being in a two-roomed building. The motor and appliances, also the street alarms and house bells, were stat-' ed to be in good working order. The attendance at all musters of the brigade continued to be very good.
