lonic Wins Rowing Cup The annual race for the ' Mercantile Marine Rowing Cup was held at Wellington yesterday afternoon, when crews from the Shaw-Savill liner lonic, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruahine, nnd the Federal steamer Huntingdon, fought for the honour of holding the coveted trophy for the next twelve months. The C. and' D. Line was not represented. The course was from the Pipitea Wharf to the Taranaki Street Wliar, and though the stiff northerly made conditions unpleasant, the race was a keenly-contest-ed one. the lonic’s boat winning by half a length frdin that of the Huntingdon. There was a large number of men present from each of the three ships at the British Sailors’ Society rooms last evening. when the cun was presented' to the winning crow bv Mr.'C. M. Turrell.
