Dilworth School Competition
Sir, —The assessors have now made their award in this important competition, and in their report acknowledge that some of the competitors (including the winner) departed from certain of the regulations laid down by the assessors in the conditions of competition. Is it not time that someone in New Zealand pointed out that assesors’ first duty is to honour their own undertaking to competitors, and debar any competitor who seeks to gain an advantage over his fellow competitors; they should first go through the designs submitted and eliminate all which do not strictly comply with the conditions. The fact that a design has merit should not count if this has not been done.
If the design placed second is in strict accordance with the conditions of competition. the author should take steps to claim the first award. —I am, etc.. COMPETITOR. Wellington, December 20.
