Ministers’ Travelling Expenses

Sir, —One cannot open the newspapers without reading the column “Personal ■ltems,” and the first to eatch the eye are Ministers of the Crown, who seem to spend all their time gadding about and mostly with nothing reasonable in view. It makes one think their travelling expenses must be considerable, and that they would be better employed attending to the business of the country instead of letting heads of' departments run the country, as at present. Ido not suggest the Civil Service is overstaffed, but evidently Ministers are finding it hard to fill in their time. —I am, etC " TAXPAYER. Wellington, December 19.
