PLUNKET SHIELD
Otago v. Wellington To-morrow Owing to the selection of the New Zealand cricket team which is to tour England next year, unusually keen interest will be taken in the contest for the Plunket Shield this season. The only Shield match to be played in Wellington this season will be that between Otago and Wellington, which is to commence on the Basin Reserve at 2 o’clock to-morrow afternoon, and continued on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. The Otago team will. arrive by the ferry steamer this morning, and is expected to give a good account of itself, as, with the exception of Shepherd, Dickinson, and McMullan, it represents the full strength of the province. The Wellington eleven will complete special practices this afternoon, and the members of the local side should be in better form for the Shield fixture than they have been for club games this season. Given a firm wicket, some heavy scoring may be expected, as an excellent pitch has been prepared for the match. Although play will commence at 2 ' o’clock to-morrow afternoon, the start on the remaining days will be at 11 a.m.
