SHUNTER KILLED

Both Legs Severed STRUCK BY WAGON Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, December 13. A fatality occurred at the Wanganui railway yards at 6.45 this morning during shunting operations, when a shunter named John Alfred Woolnough, aged 44, had both his legs severed as the result of a wagon passing over him. The injured man was engaged in letting a wagon into one of the shunting roads, and had either turned or was about to turn the points when the .oncoming wagon caught him. First aid was immediately applied and he was conveyed to the hospital, where his- condition gradually became weaker, and he died. The late Mr. Woolnough had been in the employ of the Railway Department for 10 years. He leaves a wife and a family of five children.
