Life-saving Contest PROTEST IN CIRCULAR Dominion Special Service Palmerston North, December 9. A circular letter requesting the centre’s eo-operatlon in a united protest to the Wanganui Head Centre and the Dominion Council regarding the fixing of a Friday as the day on which the Nelson Shield competition would be hold, was received at a meeting of the Manawatu Head Centre of the Royal Life Saving Society last night, from the Wellington Head Centre. The circular pointed out that holding the competition on a Friday was relegating the society’s most important life-saving event of the year to the background in favour of swimming interests. Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon, the latter for preference, wore suggested as more favourable dates. It was decided to support the Wellington Centre’s protest.
Mr. G. K. Shaw wrote accepting the position of centre representative for the Foxton district, while Mr. L. J. Wild, of Feilding, declined the office of vice-presi-dent.
