ECLIPSE EXPEDITION
New Zealanders’ Work
Since he returned from Niuafo’ou Island some weeks ago, the Dominion Astronomer, Dr. O. 0. Adams, F.R.A.S.. has given several accounts of the experiences of and the scientific work done by the New Zealand Eclipse Expedition in October at the time of the total eclipse of the sun. He was the guest and principal speaker at the Rotary Club luncheon yesterday, and re-traversed, this time from a popular and more or less non-scientific angle, the work of the party of observers, who conducted, under his leadership, the photography which was undertaken on the island. Dr. Adams stressed again the good fortune which attended the. New Zealand expedition from the tune it left Auckland by the N’agirn until it left Niuafo’ou on the United States £>avy vessel, Tanager, which made, through the the courtesy of the American expedition, a special trip to Suva. On the motion of the president, Dr. F. Bowerbai.k, Dr. Adams was accorded a hearty ' ote of thanks.
