Pope Approves Designs SACRED INSCRIPTIONS Vatican City, December 3. His Holiness the Pope has approved the designs for the Vatican special coinage. The hundred lira gold piece, worth approximately twenty-two shillings, will bear the image of the Pope, and the fifty lira gold piece will have a representation of the Virgin Mary.
