FORTY KILLED

Earthquake in Burma TRAINS DERAILED Many Buildings Destroyed i Dellii, December 4. Forty people were killed and many injured in the Pyu area, near Toungoo, in an earthquake experienced throughout Burma this morning. A large number of buildings were destroyed, and the courthouse and two railway bridges were badly damaged in Pyu, causing a suspension of the service between upper and lower Burma. Fire broke out after the shocks, and several shops were gutted. Heavy damage was caused to buildings in Toungoo. Several trains were completely derailed by the earth movements, and in some places the rails sank five feet. Bridge girders were jerked from the trestles. Rangoon escaped lightly.
