BE SPORTSMEN.
The following .paragraph was written by a Cambridge Blue:— “Oh, it’s only a game.” How often you hear a boy or girl say that when they feel too lazy to try hard or to train! Well, it may be a game, to be treated in the right sporting spirit, but no game was ever won, no champion ever made, without hard work first. Of ten champions in various forms of sport, picked haphazard, their early history showed that they worked tremendously hard to become proficient. They practised, they trained, they took infinite pains to improve, yet they still treated their sport as a game. These ten, whose early records and history you will read later in this page, are all popular with the public and among their friends and opponents. So remember, If you want to be a champion, to win your colours for school, county, university, or country, show determination and concentration. Make sacrifices in the true spjjit of the game and work hard at your play. Be a real sportsman.
