CHANNEL HEROES
U.S. Memorial to Dover Patrol
New York is to have a memorial to the Dover Patrol, the force that kept the English Channel comparatively free of enemy submarines during the war, and provided so many romantic stories of heroism and ingenuity at sea. The memorial will be a replica of the two eighty-feet granite pillars, one of which stands on,the cliffs at Dover, and the other at Blanc Nez, on the opposite side of the Channel. A number of American airmen served with the Dover Patrol, and the cost of the memorial, £5OOO, will be met by the English-Speaking Union.
