INTOXICATION PUNISHED
Mastertpii, December 5. When a yoqug map named Gordon Cornford appeared before Mr. J. Miller, S,M„ in the I’ahiatua Magistrate'! s ' Court, on u charge of being intoxicated whj]e m charge of a car, Constable Burrell suggested 'that as defendant worked in an ironmongery shop, he be allowed to continue driving his employer’s van, but that he be stopped from driving his own car. This would put an end to any jaunts with his friends. L „ The magistrate commented that vbere was always U difficulty in dealing with Such eases; the main thing was to consider the public. He recognised that “ the license was cancelled, and he lost his job, he would have difficulty in gaining employment at the present time, That being so, and as be was a young man, the magistrate thought teat probation for two years would meet • the case, He also ordered Cornfqrd to take out 3 prohibition order for 12 months, and ordered that the only vehicle ho should bp allowed to drive was the one necessary in his employment.
