TOWN v. COUNTRY
To-day’s Cricket Trial
The annual trial of strength between the Town and Country players of the Wellington Cricket Association’s Plunket Shield territory, which is to. com-, mence at the Basin Reserve at eleven o’clock this morning, should furnish a first-class exposition of the game. In view of the visit; of a New Zealand team to England next year, the selectors on both sides have given youth a chance, and it goes without saying that every one of the twenty-two players engaged will be out to earn a place in the -Wellington Plunket Shield eleven, with an eye on the supreme honour of representing the Dominion on English playing fields next season. Possibly never before in the history of Town v. Country contests have two such strong all-round teams been as-, st .bled as those that will take the field at the Basin Reserve to-day. If wicket and outfield are fast, some heavy scoringshould be witnessed, despite the fact that the attack on both sides will be stronger than it has ever been.
