Annual Meeting of Union There was a large attendance of members at the forty-fifth annual meeting of the Women’s' Christian Temperance Union, which was held in the Constable Street hall yesterday. Mrs. A. L. Mowlem presided. - The annual report stated that at present there were 127 financial, 73 associate, and six honorary members. Several of the members had taken charge of Sunday services at the Alexandra Home each month. The inmates had attended regularly. The home for the aged needy had also been visited. ■ Mrs. Porte, the visitor to hospitals, reported a number of visits paid to members. Hospital auxiliary visitors bad paid 397 visits during the year. The scientific superintendent, Mrs. Mowlem. had supervised instruction of scientific truth, talks being illustrated by drawings. The cradle roll department continued to be of the greatest benefit in linking up children at the earliest age. One afternoon had been set aside for the training' of-these children and their mothers. ' ..-. Many members had joined the League of Nations Union, and two members were trustees for the Home for the Aged Needy. A well-attended valedictory party bad been held for the president, who was retiring from that position, and possibly is. leaving Wellington. The report paid a tribute to Mrs. Mowlem’s work during the four years for which she had held the office of president. The treasurer reported a satisfactory financial condition, the statement of accounts showing a credit balance. The election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mrs. M. Murray; secretary, Mrs. E. Webb; treasurer. Miss E. K. G. Webb; vice-presidents, Mrs. H. Chisholm, Mrs. E. A. Spearman, Mrs. Ashworth, and Mrs. Perry; superintendents —Evangelistic, Mrs. Chisholm; Press, Mrs. Rowe; cradle-roll, Mrs. Logan; hospital visitor, Mrs. Porte; white ribbon, Mrs. Perry; notable days, Mrs. Hirst; tea committee, Mrs. C. Bott and Mrs. Ross; literature, Mrs. Jackson; visitors to sick and absent members, Mrs. Free. Mrs. Robertson, Mrs. Harris, Miss Brooks, Mrs. Spearman.
