DISPUTE SETTLED?
Onakaka Iron Works As the outcome of a Conciliation Council meeting at Takaka this week, it is anticipated that the dissatisfaction which has existed for some time past between the workers and the management at the Onakaka Iron and Steel Works, near Nelson, will be removed. The recommendations of the council were to have been considered by the men yesterday, and from the tone of the conciliation proceedings it was considered probable that they would be adopted, and referred to the Court of Arbitration for an award on the lines suggested by the Conciliation Council. Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, presided at the meeting of the council. Mr. T. O. Bishop, secretary of the New'Zealand Employers’ Federation, represented the employers, and Mr. F. Cornwell, of the Wellington Trades and Labour Council, appeared for the workers. _____
