Hundreds Killed in Japanese Disaster SHOCK LASTS THIRTY MINUTES Cities Shaken; Villages Devastated (United Press' Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Cojiyright.) (Rec. November 26, 9 p.m.) Tokio, November 25. Two hundred are dead as a result of an exceedingly severe earthquake which shook the Tokio and Yokohama areas to-day. The city of Mishima suffered most heavily. Twenty were killed when a bridge collapsed at Nagaoka Springs. Tokio and Yokohama were rocked at 4 o’clock this morning. No damage was done here. According to other messages, incoming reports say that the 'quake centred on the Idzu Peninsula where villages were devastated. The official estimates vary from 250 to 900 casualties. Communications have been interrupted. Foreigners are reported safe in the Miyanoshita-Hakone district, where landslides suspended electric car services and motor services. Many houses collapsed at Mishima, and much damage was done at Oda war a. The ’quake lasted 30 minutes. Reports from Atami state that houses collapsed and five students were buried. Two regiments at Mishima are rescuing inhabitants and maintaining order.
