LOWER HUTT COURT

By-law and Civil Cases Cases involving by-laws and carelessness were dealt with in the Lower Hutt Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday by Messrs. M. Hodgins and A. J. Gearing, J.P.’s. Charles McCabe and J. S. Wilson were each fined £1 for exceeding the speed limit over the Hutt bridge. For exceeding a speed limit, M. E. Turrell was fined £l, and A. J. Stapleton £3. For driving round a corner in a manner dangerous to the public, H. C. M. Renner wits fined 30/-. . George Woodcock, who rode a bicycle on the footpath, was fined 10/-, and for similar offences F. C. Swain and B. Swain were each fined 15/-. Donald Grant, for cycling without a light, was fined 15/-. Civil Cases. Judgment for plaintiffs by default was given in the following undefended civil cases: —Lower Hutt Borough Council v. W. J. Ives, 11/- costs only; W. A. Gadsby v. T. Parry, £7/13/11; T. R. Parr v. , H. A. Jones, £5/0/6; F. W. Maddams v. O. Drummond, 3/9; D.C. Motort v. Louise von Zcdlitz, £B/12/4; L. Kyle v. H. Winstanley, £9/10/-.
