Wellington Compositions
On Monday evening now compositions, by Claude M. Haydon, Mus. Bae., L.A.8., will lie broadcast from 2YA, Wellington, the entire programme—except for the -YA orChestrina numbers—consisting of Mr. Haydon’s works. Special interest attaches to Mr. Bavdon’s “Balade” for violin (Miss Ava Symons, accompanied by the 2xA urchestrlna), and to his ’cello and P>auo sonata (Claude Tanner and Madame Evelyn de Mauny), of which the first movement "j!r. b Havdn Rodway, a brilliant pupil of Mr. Haydon’s, is playing three groups of new piano solos, some (notably The unveiling” and Minuetto in F Major), for the first time in New Zealand. The words of all the songs, except one, have been written by New Zealanders. The vocalists include Miss Hilda Chudley (contralto). Miss Monica Malfroy (mezzo-soprano), Mr. C. Wilkie (baritone), and Mr. Roy Hill (tenor). In the tenor song cycle, and also in most of the mezzo-soprano songs. Sir. Haydon has ■'written both words and music.
