FLAX INDUSTRY SUBSIDY
Negotiations in Train Dominion 'm-.pviiw Palmerston North, October 16. Recently a deputation of workers and representatives of flaxmilling interests waited on the Acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, and the Hon. S. G. Smith, Minister of Labour, asking for a State subsidy for the industry. The Mayor of Foxton, Mr. M. E. Perun. received advice from J. Linklater, M.P., yesterday, that, he had been informed that steps were being taken to form a committee, consisting of the millers, workers’ industries and commerce and the Treasury, with a view of ascertaining the amount' which should be granted.
