Mr. J. D. Spedding, Sydney, is at the Royal Oak. Hotel. Mr. H. R. Steptoe, of Leeds, is staying at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mr. J. Bnstow is a Sydney visitor to Wellington, who is at the Royal Oak Hotel.

Mr. Lester Brown, publicity manager for Fox Films, left for Auckland last evening to catch the Ulimaroa to-day for Sydney.

Messrs. C. Parker, E. C. Parker, and G. L. L. Parker, of South Africa, arrived in Wellington yesterday, and are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. Alfred Walmsley, of Dunedin, who is to sing the tenor solos in “The Golden Legend” to-morrow evening, will arrive from the south this morning. The Bishop of Goulburn will marry Haselden White in a village church at Bishop-Middleham, Durham, on October 21, states a Press Association message from London. Mr. John Farrell has arrived from Auckland to take charge of the “New Moon”, Musical Comedy Company, which is to commence a New Zealand tour in Wellington on October 29. Lieutenant-Commander W. H. Bremner, D. 5.0., D.S.C.. R.N.. has been appointed to I-I.M.S. Dunedin, as staff officer (operations and intelligence) to the commodore commanding the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy. The Rev. R. L. Connolly, vicar of St. Mark’s Church, Te Aroha, has been appointed to the charge of St. Adrian’s Parish, Remuera, in succession to the Rev. H. A. Coleman, who Ims accepted the living of Ellel, near Lancaster, England.

Staff Quartermaster-Sergeant R. H. Cook, of the (loyal New Zealand Artillery, who Ims retired after 3-1 years in the regiment., was farewelled by a gath ering of artillery members on Wednesday He was presented with a silver greimdo on behalf of the regiment and with an engraved clock by his associates at Fort Dorset. Mrs. Cook received a cake stand and a set of silver teaspoons.
