Compensation Court Judge
gj r —y7e are going through hard times when’ our legislators should not be extravagant and commit the country to unnecessary expense. Why is it necessary to set up a special court at great expense to settle claims for compensation for injury to workers? The law courts are (or should be) open alike to rich and poor. A special court for workers claims is making a distinction which should not exist. The Minister says that there must be uniformity; does he suggest that our law courts are unfair because they find that circumstances alter cases? One hears that the Supreme Couit Judges are averse to the innovation, and one wonders whether the Minister of Justice, or the Attorney-General, have conferred with the judges before this eleventh-hour legislation was introduced.^l^m.jffc., October 13.
