CAULFIELD RACES

Glare Back to Form BEATEN BY A NECK No Mention of Amounis By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Rec. October 15, 7 p.m.) Melbourne, October 15. For the Caulfield races to-day the weather was fine and bright, and the going was good. There was a fair attendance. Despite a poor jump at the second last hurdle, Not Infallible won the Emo Hurdle race comfortably. He has raced consistently, and deserved the win. Sea Mistress had a narrow win in the Nursery. This is her second victory in two starts. Roadstead and Dunlora finished well. Sea Mistress, who was ridden by Ashley Reed, cost 110 guineas as a yearling.

The Caulfield Cup candidate, Second Wind, had an impressive win in the Herbert Power Stakes. This is Trainer Holt’s seventh success in this race. Glare, in racing second, put up his best performance in Melbourne to date. Carradale was unlucky, being hampered for want of galloping room. Gay Mutineer was seventh early in the Moonga Handicap, but finished best, and won brilliantly. He is engaged in the Cup, and is trained by the former New Zealander, Dave Price, whose son, Bert, trains Byron.

The Cup candidate, Shadow King, won the Coongy Handicap comfortably. This is his first win in eleven months, and the time for the race is a record. Waicullus pulled up lame, and is an unlikely runner in the Cup. Soulton failed after having every chance.

Pinnacle was well placed all the way, and won the First Division of the Welter nieely. He was successful in the same event two years ago. The Tasmanian owned and trained Darpuna had a runaway victory in the Second Division of the Welter. He was bred at Bonny Vale.
