Advice has been received from Los Angeles (California) that Lon Chaney, the motion picture character actor, died to-day from lobar pneumonia. [Mr. Lon Chaney, who was born on April 1, 1883, at Colorado Springs, United States, was famous for his cripple roles and as a master of makeup. Among his most remarkable pictures were “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “He Who Get’s Slapped,” “Treasure Island,” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” He made his name first in “The Miracle Man,” in which he played the part of r bogus cripple.]
