WINTER SPORTS

Ruapehu Ski Club Wanganui, August 20. On Wednesday members of the 11130 winter party of the Ruapehu Ski Club will leave for Mount Tongariro. The annual meeting of the club will be held on Friday night, and ■i full programme of winter sports will be carried out, including the amateur ski-ing championship of New Zealand. The club's sixteenth annual report slates that the committee hopes to arrange for the erection of a suitable memorial to the late Mr. W. Salt, in memory of bis great work in furthering the .objects of the club and the development of Tongariro National Park. - A matter to be brought forward at the annual meeting will be that of the formation of a federation of mountain clubs. The New Zealand Alpine Club is endeavouring to arrange a conference ot delegates for the various clubs, whose activities embrace mountaineering, ski-ing, and tramping.
