“If the buses have never paid,” said a member of the Karaka Bay residents’ deputation to the Mayor to a “Dominion” reporter, “why does the council build them so luxuriously. We don’t want all these costly leather fittings, and superfine upholstery—there is no call for it.. Wc are quite content to sit on board seats in the trams, and that would do us in the buses. Why all this luxury, when it only means large additional capital cost?”
