FOREST BIOLOGY

New Research Station The completion of the new forest biological research station at the Cawthron Institute at Nelson was announced by the acting director, Mr. A. E. Clark, at the Forest Biological Committee’s meeting at Whaka-1-cwarewa. He also stated that the transferelce of the library, probably the finest entomological library south of the Equator, was now in progress, and it would be available for the use of the entomologists on the staff shortly. The preparation of an index of trees which acted as hosts to various insect pests was now being undertaken. A mycological laboratory attached to the plant research station was also ready for use, and the arrangements for mycological studies into the fungus diseases of exotic trees were progerssing satisfactorily.
