MYSTERY PLANE

Seen at Tolaga Bay SIGNS OF DISTRESS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, August 26. An unidentified plane is reported to have been seen by one resident passing over Tolaga Bay at 1.30 p.m. today. The observer reported that the machine appeared to be in distress and “to wobble a great deal.” The engine was racing and then appeared to stop. There was heavy rain and a thick fog at the time. A thorough search over five miles of the countryside from the point where the plane was reported revealed nothing. A machine has not been reported from any other township on the pre, sumed route, which lay southward.
