AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS Wykoff’s Ankle Broken New York, August 24. A message from Glendale (California) states that it w r as announced yesterday at the Pittsburg National Track and Field Championships that Frank Wykoff had broken his ankle. Paul Jessup (Seattle) threw the discus 169 feet 8 7-8 inches, a new world record. Tolan defeated Simpson in the hundred yards in 9 7-lOsec. Simpson defeated Tolan in the 220 yards in 21 3-ssee. (an American record). Steve Anderson (Seattle) equalled the world record of 14 2-ssec. for 120 yards.
CANADIAN RELAY RACE Montreal, August 24,
At Toronto in a thirty miles invitation relay race at the Canadian National Exhibition Joie Ray, of Chicago, and August Fager defeated by half a mile Simpson and N. B. McNamara, of Murlington, United States, and Brisbane, Australia.
