PACIFIC FLIGHT
Japan to America BROMLEY’S PLANS (Bee. July 27, 6.45 p.m.) New York, July 26. A Tacoma report states that Bromley’s plane has. been dismantled for shipment by steamer to Japan for the eastward flight across the Pacific, following tests which showed that a western flight would probably be impossible against unfavourable winds. The two-hop flight plan was abandoned owing to unfavourable landing fields in Alaska. A Seattle message states that Bromley and Gatty, with the plane, sailed by the steamer President Lincoln for Tokio. “1 expect to be back on American soil within three weeks,” Bromley said. “I am very confident of making my projected non stop flight The plane has plenty of fuel and we have the additional advantage of a west to east wind. Arrangements have been made for co-operation with ships plying the northern route and shore radio stations for keeping in touch after leaving Japan.” AMERICA TO TOKIO Non-stop Refuelling Flight (Rec. July 27, 5.5 p.m.) New York, July 26. Robert Walk is planning a non-stop refuelling flight to Tokio. He Intends to take off on Sunday and refuel in the air over Jyneau and Nome.
