Patrons of the Wellington Boxing Association being keen followers of the amateur sport will look forward to the an nual amateur boxing championships to b<held on Tuesday and Wednesday .next and on both evenings some excellent con tests will be staged between the many well-known preliminary amateurs and tin many newcomers who nre making then first appearance in the championships. In
August the New Zealand amateur boxing championships are to he held at Palmerston North, and Wellington will be w:l represented bv the winners in the various classes taking part in this year’s chain pionships. Many of last year's winners such as 11. Knopp, G. Thomas, and J Connors, nre out to hold their title, bin with both the welterweight and lichtheavvweiglit titles vacant through the holders, P. J. Stone and W. Pearce, having entered Hie professional ranks, these two' classes are very open, and it will be interesting to see who lire to be thi.‘ year’s champions.
