FALSE MURDER ALARM
Dramatic Rehearsal Spoiled A visitor to Bournemouth dashed excitedly into a hotel and said he had seen, through a window, a man lying wounded, a woman fainting, and another man standing with a rapier in his hand. He then ran out of the hotel, called a cab, picked up a policeman from point duty, and hurried to investigate what appeared to be a tragedy. Dashing into the premises with the policeman the man shouted, “What’s the matter here?” He spoiled the duel scene in “Hamlet," which a dramatic society, the Leamor Players, were rehearsing in the Alexandra Hall. Laertes, performed by Mr. David Balfour, lay wounded, with Hamlet. Mr. Wilfrid Gamble, standing over him with a rapier, and the Queen, Miss G. Mallara Williams, tottering after drinking poison. The players were too astonished to reply. Then the man explained and everybody laughed.
