RAILWAY SIGNALS
Change in Design A change in railway signals is being made gradually throughout New Zealand. Instead of all signals being red and white in colour as in the past, “distant” signals are now being painted yellow with a black band. The purpose of “distant” signals is to warn an enginedriver if "home” signal is at danger. Both are set in the same manner. Difference in the past hns been one of shape only, and the change is being made to prevent confusion.
