MISS JOHNSON

Farewell to Sydney PARTING MESSAGE (Rec. June 14, 0.30 a.m.) Sydney, June 18. Miss Amy Johnson said good-bye to Sydney to-day. She will arrive at Canberra to-morrow, piloted by Major De Haviland. She will lunch with the Prime Minister and the other Ministers. She will arrive at Melbourne on Monday. Miss Johnson’s parting message was: “I shall never forget the marvellous crowds, the hospitality, and the wonderful gifts bestowed upon me. I am just done up. My brain has refused to work, and is just about breaking down. I hope to return to Sydney for the opening of your colossal harbour bridge two years hence." Referring to the “Daily Mail” contract, Miss Johnson said her remuneration was £lO,OOO and no more. “I expect I shall have to earn every penny of it.”
