Reduction in Australia NO CUT IN AIR FORCE Saving on Army and Navy By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Canberra, June 13. The Federal Ministry makes provision for a million sterling in the Estimates for next year to assist State Governments in their efforts to cope with their unemployed problems. The Minister of Defence, Mr. A. E. Green, explained the means whereby expenditure on defence is to be reduced by half a million sterling. In the Army there will be enforced leave without pay, varying from one week to eight weeks for all members drawing £221 yearly. The Navy have a reduced personnel of approximately 700 officers and men. The naval reductions amount to £326,368. There will be no dismissals from the Air Force.
