The clergy are actively fighting what they term “the Government’s anti-religious policy.” Religious organs are joining In the campaign. They declare that the past Is nothing. The big things are to come yet. LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR Mr. Harry Luke Appointed British Wireless. Rugby, June 12. The King has approved the appointment of Mr. Harry Luke, Chief Secretary of Palestine, to be LieutenantGovernor of Malta in succession to Sir Thomas Best, who has been appointed Governor of the Windward Island. It was upon Mr. Luke that the responsibility feU of coping with the crisis in Palestine created by the disturbances of last year, Sir John ChanceHor, the High Commissioner, being absent on leave. He now goes to Malta to assist General Sir John Du Cane, the Governor, In the highly intricate situation which has developed there In connection with the relations with the Vatican.
