COLD WEATHER
Southerly Squalls The weather yesterday was fine, with a cold southerly wind. At about four o’clock a southerly squall, with fairly heavy rain, swept over the city, and similar, squalls came over intermittently throughout the evening. For the 24 hours ended at midnight last night one point of rain was recorded on the , “Dominion’s” rain gauge.
There was a continuation of bright, sunny weather in Auckland yesterday. The wind, from the south-west, had fallen away to a light breeze. The temperature was not as cold as on Thursday. The barometer fell slowly all day, last evening’s reading being 30.15 inches.
The weather at Christchurch was fine but cold with a high wind from the south-west. The maximum temperature was 52 degrees, and the minimum on the grass 26. The barometer fell slowly, last evening’s reading being 30.22. The weather was cloudy and fine at Dunedin; but periods of sunshine were recorded. The wind was squally from the south-west The maximum temperature was 52 degrees. The barometer was high and fairly steady, last evening’s reading being 30.25 Inches.
